Almost every hotel room has one. Sometimes it is well hidden, sometimes it takes pride of place in the room. Sometimes it holds the classic combination of water, beer and chocolate; sometimes you discover local specialities, little surprises or things you would never have expected.
We are talking, of course, about the minibar. And since we are called MinibarClub, we think it is time to give it a little more attention.
What’s in your Minibar?
With “What’s in your Minibar?” we are launching a new series at MinibarClub.
We want to open minibars – in hotels we visit, in special properties and at our partner hotels. Not to check whether the water bottle is facing the right way, but because we are curious about what lies behind the door. After all, a minibar can tell you a surprising amount about a hotel.
Are there international classics or products from the region? The obligatory chocolate bar, or something you can only get right here? Champagne for that special moment? A local gin? Homemade snacks? Or perhaps no classic minibar at all, but a completely new concept?
That is exactly what we want to find out.
Little stories behind little products
It is not just about photographing what is inside a minibar. We want to know why certain products are there.
Perhaps a hotel has been working with a small local producer for years. Perhaps the wine comes from the winemaker next door. Perhaps there is a snack that guests asked for so often that it eventually earned a permanent place in the minibar.
And perhaps we will also discover things that simply make us wonder: who actually orders that at 2 a.m.? That is part of it too.
Hotels, people and their perfect minibar
But “What’s in your Minibar?” is meant to go a little further. We also want to ask hoteliers, hosts and people who travel a lot what their own perfect minibar would look like.
- What absolutely has to be in it?
- Sweet or savoury?
- Champagne or beer?
- Regional or international?
- And which product must never be missing?
Step by step, this will grow into a collection of special minibars, personal recommendations, regional discoveries – and perhaps the odd rather unusual answer.
So: What’s in your Minibar?
We believe it is often the little things you remember after a hotel stay. The chocolate in the room. The local beer after a long day. The bottle of wine you opened on a whim. Or that one product you had never seen before.
That is why, from now on, we will regularly take a look behind the little door. In Vienna, in Austria and wherever MinibarClub takes us. One minibar at a time.
Welcome to What’s in your Minibar?
