Independent hotels in Oberwesel

Oberwesel is located directly on the Rhine within the UNESCO World Heritage Upper Middle Rhine Valley and is one of the most characteristic towns in this remarkable cultural landscape. Historic town walls, medieval towers, vineyards and Schönburg Castle rising above the town create an impressive setting.

The historic old town reflects Oberwesel’s long history. One of its most distinctive features is the largely preserved medieval fortification with numerous towers. Churches, half-timbered houses and narrow streets add to the historic atmosphere and make the town particularly enjoyable to explore on foot.

Steep vineyards shape the landscape surrounding Oberwesel and reflect the centuries-old wine tradition of the Middle Rhine. Riesling plays a particularly important role, while local wineries, traditional wine taverns and regional restaurants offer plenty of opportunities to discover the area’s wine culture.

Oberwesel is also an excellent starting point for exploring the region on foot. The famous Rheinsteig hiking trail passes through the area, offering spectacular views of the Rhine, vineyards and numerous castles along the valley. The legendary Loreley rock is also only a few kilometres away.

Oberwesel is an ideal destination for travellers looking to combine history, wine, nature and the romantic landscapes of the Rhine – all within one of Germany’s most impressive cultural regions.
